College Update: Anna Morris, Ohio State, Former Immaculate Heart Academy

October 5, 2023

Anna Morris won the Gatorade NJ Player of the Year in both 2018 and 2019 as she dominated the middle for the Blue Eagles as a 4 year varsity player. She won NJ State Championships all 4 years of her high school career.

IHA also won the Tournament of Champions in 2017 and 2019. She finished her volleyball career with prolific statistics: 1,245 kills, 333 blocks, 119 aces, and 496 digs. She attained over 200 kills in all four of her HS seasons and 413 in her senior year.

She was highly recruited and decided to go to Northwestern to further her academic and athletic careers. Oh… just one thing. She decided to play basketball at Northwestern.

You see Anna was multi-sport in high school and had great success on the basketball court as well as the volleyball floor. She was a 4 time All-State, All-County, All-Section, All-Conference selection, made the 2019 McDonald’s High School All-American Nominee list as well as the 2019 Naismith High School Player of the Year Watch List.

Anna spent three years playing basketball at Northwestern and participated in 49 games, but her heart missed volleyball. What does one do in this situation? Well, you transfer to one of the premier volleyball college programs in the nation at Ohio State.

She now enters the Buckeye program as a junior and has accepted the challenge of getting reoriented to spikes and kills rather than dunks. She also will have to show her worth on a team with some very talented middles including 6’2″ senior Rylee Rader and 6’3″ freshman Eloise Brandewie.

But NJP has every confidence that she will rise up for her senior year and take the main stage as a valuable asset on a D1 powerhouse. Stay tuned.
