Just for fun, NJP analyzed the names of the 2,122 players from the first week of high school volleyball action. Anyone want to take a guess on the most common first girl’s names in volleyball in NJ?
Our research show that in the USA currently, these are the most common names of girls of all ages: 1) Mary, 2) Patricia, 3) Linda, 4) Barbara, 5) Elizabeth, 6) Jennifer, 7) Maria, 8) Susan, 9) Margaret, 10) Dorothy.
As far as new baby names in 2025 in the USA, here are the top 10: 1) Olivia, 2) Emma, 3) Amelia, 4) Charlotte, 5) Mia, 6) Sophia, 7) Isabella, 8) Evelyn, 9) Ava, and 10) Sofia.
But in NJ Girl’s high school volleyball… here is the recap so far:
If you combined Sophia and Sofia, it would be the leader at 45 occurrences.
