Patrick Dorywalski, the only head coach the Steven’s Volleyball program history, is stepping down as head coach of the Ducks. Patrick also served as Women’s Head Coach as Stevens from 1986-1999. His men’s volleyball record was 617-276 and his awards and accomplishments that have piled up over the years is just so impressive. His overall record including his time as Women’s Head Coach was 753-426.
The situation with COVID influenced his decision as he leaves behind a team that has made the NCAA Division 3 Semi-Finals for the last five years, including a National Championship in 2015. He has lead the Ducks to the National Championship game 7 times during his tenure.
Taking over for Coach Dorywalski will be Assistant Coach Austin Vogues. It is undetermined whether Coach Vogues will be interim or permanent. Austin has been the assistant at Stevens for 5 years.

Stevens Head Coach Accomplishments
- Led the Ducks to the lone NCAA Division III National Championship in school history in 2015 when they finished 31-4 overall
- Reached the 600-win plateau with a 3-1 victory over No. 12 Lancaster Bible College on Feb. 16, 2019
- Set a new program record for wins in a single season with 33 victories in both 2004 and 2007
- Coached William Molina, Chris Bock and Andrew Cranford who are all in the Stevens Athletics Hall of Fame
- Helped Stevens earn the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Title in both 2002 and 2004
- In addition to five consecutive trips to the NCAA Semifinals, Dorywalski has also helped Stevens reach the NCAA Tournament each of the last seven seasons
- Prior to the NCAA Division III Championships being established, the Ducks advanced to the Molten Championships in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009
- He has led the Ducks to at least 20 wins in over half (16 of 31) of his seasons as head coach
Stevens Women’s Volleyball Accomplishments
- Served as the head coach for the women’s volleyball program for 14 seasons and led the Ducks to 136 total victories in his tenure
- He was named the Independent Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1992 and the Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1993, 1995 (Co-Coach), 1996 and 1999
- Dorywalski led the Ducks to three conference titles (1992, 1993, 1996) in his time as the head coach as well as 27 All-IAC Selections
- His 21-2 season in 1993 is still the best winning percentage (.904) in program history
- Currently ranks second in program history in career victories

- As a coach, Dorywalski has served on the ECAC Selection Committee and the NECVA Conference Executive board
- He has also been the Chairman of the Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference League Volleyball Committee and was the first Chair of the United Volleyball Conference
- Dorywalski served on the AVCA All-American Selection Committee for three years and served on the AVCA Coached top-10 Poll voting committee for 10 years
- Dorywalski was named the Division III Men’s Representative on the Board of Directors for the AVCA in October of 2011. He was the first DIII men’s representative to be named to the board and served for 6 years
- Prior to coming to Stevens, Dorywalski worked in the Hotel industry as a Food & Beverage Director and Volleyball coach in a Private Athletic Club
- Has also been a PAVO/NCAA volleyball referee for the past 8 years
