This week saw unprecedented movement near the top of the rankings and the tightest top 7 we have had in our history. The emergence of Morristown who was undefeated and then knocked off Sparta as well as winning the Morris County Tournament launched them near the top. Princeton downing Southern, Hunterdon Central, and Lenape this past week also kept them in the “Sweet 7”. IHA reemerges at #1 after winning the Big North tournament, taking down Demarest and Old Tappan. Motown, Princeton, and Williamstown are benefiting from win streaks in the algorithm. Southerns loss to Princeton was picked up by their big win against Paul VI. Sparta’s loss to Motown, after downing IHA, has them missing the opportunity for the #1 slot. Seven teams within one rating point shows the parity of the teams at the top who are all in a virtual massive dead heat. As we head toward state playoffs, there are numerous teams that can still end up with a #1 overall ranking in NJ.

Here are the updated rankings for October 22, 2023.
