September 11-12, 2025: Two Nights of Thrilling Action

The New Jersey high school girls volleyball scene delivered two consecutive nights of exciting action with a combined 163 matches across the state. From dominant sweeps to competitive battles, September 11-12 showcased the depth and competitiveness of volleyball programs throughout the Garden State.

Thursday, September 11, 2025 Highlights

75 matches were contested across New Jersey on Thursday night, with several standout results:

Notable Results:

Dwight-Englewood 2, Becton 0 (27-25, 25-21) One of the closest contests of the night saw Dwight-Englewood edge Becton in a thrilling match, winning the first set 27-25 before closing out the match 25-21 in the second set. The 52-46 total point differential highlighted just how competitive this Bergen County matchup was.

Pennsauken Tech 2, Burlington City 0 (25-17, 25-8) Pennsauken Tech dominated from start to finish, outscoring Burlington City 50-25 overall in a convincing sweep that demonstrated their early-season form. Northern Burlington 2, Collingswood 0 (25-18, 25-7) Another dominant performance saw Northern Burlington cruise to victory with a 50-25 total point advantage, highlighted by a commanding 25-7 second set. Lindenwold 2, Woodbury 0 (25-23, 25-18) In one of the more competitive matches, Lindenwold held off a determined Woodbury squad. The 50-41 total score reflected a much closer contest than the 2-0 result might suggest.

J.P. Stevens 3, Piscataway 0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-17) J.P. Stevens pulled away in the third set to complete a straight-set victory over Piscataway in a competitive match that saw the first two sets decided by just three points each. Gladys Diaz De la Rosa led the Hawks’ attack with 9 kills and 3 blocks, while Tina Sehrawat anchored the defense with 8 digs and contributed 2 kills. Aimee Han facilitated the offense with 10 assists and added 2 kills of her own. For Piscataway, Milani Washington put up a strong fight with 17 kills and 9 digs, while Channen Doman contributed 3 kills and 11 digs in the losing effort.

Friday, September 12, 2025 Highlights

88 matches took place on Friday, providing even more volleyball excitement across the state:

Standout Performances:

Marlboro 2, Middletown North 0 (26-24, 25-21) Marlboro started Friday’s action with a hard-fought victory over Middletown North, taking the opener 26-24 in extra points before securing the sweep with a 25-21 second set victory.

Old Tappan 2, Pascack Valley 0 (25-17, 25-15) Old Tappan swept Pascack Valley in a convincing performance, outscoring their opponents 50-32 overall. Julia Whaley led the Golden Knights with 12 kills and contributed 4 assists, while Joley Giordano added 13 assists and 1 kill to run the offense. Desi Malafis anchored the defense with 8 digs, while Celia Torres (Pascack Valley) contributed 5 digs and 1 kill in the losing effort. Old Tappan’s balanced attack and steady execution helped them control both sets from start to finish.

Sparta 2, Montville 0 (25-22, 25-19) Sparta swept Montville in a two-set match that was more competitive than the final score indicated. Arielle Gomez led the Spartans with 8 kills and contributed 6 digs, while Alexia Hill ran the offense with 22 assists and added 2 kills. Amelia Boohoff anchored the defense with 8 digs, and Grace Mathurin was outstanding from the service line with 5 aces.

Southern 3, Brick Memorial 0 (25-14, 25-15, 28-26) Southern dominated the first two sets before holding off a spirited Brick Memorial comeback in the third set that went to extra points. Kayden Bulger led the Rams with 10 kills and contributed 9 digs, while Catherine Dalon added 5 kills. Heather Henderson ran the offense with 24 assists, and Lauren Ambar was exceptional from the service line with 5 aces. Brooke Sutter anchored the defense with 17 digs. Despite the lopsided first two sets, Brick Memorial showed great fight in pushing the third set to extra points.

Bridgewater-Raritan 2, Phillipsburg 0 (26-24, 25-21) Bridgewater-Raritan swept Phillipsburg in a competitive two-set match, with the first set going to extra points. Ava Marvuglio led the Panthers with 9 kills, while Jahniah Bishop contributed 8 kills and Margarita Silvar added 6 kills. Camile Hilton ran the offense with 19 assists, and Era Sabbaral (Phillipsburg) paced the defense with 4 digs. Both teams battled hard in the closely contested first set before Bridgewater-Raritan pulled away in the second.

Toms River East 2, Toms River South 1 (25-17, 16-25, 25-20) Toms River East bounced back from a second-set loss to defeat cross-town rival Toms River South in three sets. Katelyn Bell led the Raiders with 7 kills, while Ruby Haug contributed 6 kills and led the defense with 5 digs. Alexa Cruz ran the offense with 16 assists and added 7 digs, while Ruby Haug was outstanding from the service line with 5 aces. Toms River South showed resilience in taking the second set before falling in the decisive third.

Immaculate Heart 2, Ridgewood 0 (25-19, 27-25) Immaculate Heart swept Ridgewood in a competitive two-set match, with the second set requiring extra points to decide the outcome. Anabelle Albano (Immaculate Heart) led the attack with 6 kills, while Parker Langheim (Ridgewood) contributed 6 kills and paced the defense with 11 digs. Lilith Roman (Immaculate Heart) ran the offense with 16 assists, and Adrielle Crump (Immaculate Heart) was outstanding from the service line with 5 aces, helping secure the victory in the tightly contested second set.

Ramsey 2, Westwood 1 (25-21, 19-25, 27-25) Ramsey edged Westwood in a thrilling three-set match that went to extra points in the decisive third set. Jules Batelli (Westwood) led all players with 8 kills, while Julia Niewiarowski (Westwood) contributed 4 kills and ran the offense with 32 assists. Alex Pazian (Westwood) anchored the defense with 9 digs. For Ramsey, Bella Moore distributed 19 assists to facilitate the offense in the comeback victory.

Pinelands 2, Washington Township 1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-23) Pinelands rallied from a first-set loss to defeat Washington Township in a thrilling three-set match. Campbell Basu (Washington Township) led all players with 17 kills and added 14 digs, while Jayda Quigley (Pinelands) contributed 11 kills and ran the offense with 32 assists. Mia Panico (Washington Township) paced the defense with 18 digs, and Jayda Quigley was outstanding from the service line with 5 aces, helping Pinelands complete the comeback victory.

Parsippany Hills 2, Mendham 0 (25-11, 25-13) Parsippany Hills dominated from start to finish in a convincing sweep over Mendham, outscoring their opponents 50-24 overall. Juliet Galante led the attack with 8 kills, while Apoorva Bhargava contributed 5 kills and Amelia Wadolwoski paced the defense with 6 digs. Julia Pars ran the offense with 12 assists, and Apoorva Bhargava was dominant from the service line with 4 aces. The Vikings are now 4-0.

Morris Catholic 2, Pequannock 0 (25-22, 25-21) Morris Catholic edged Pequannock in a tight two-set match where both sets were decided by just three and four points respectively. Ava Valenta led with 8 kills, while Gabriella Danzi distributed 17 assists to run the offense. Jianna Melo was exceptional from the service line with 9 aces, helping create separation in the close sets.

Seneca 2, Cherry Hill West 0 (25-21, 25-19) Seneca controlled their match against Cherry Hill West throughout, maintaining steady leads in both sets for a 50-40 total point victory. Bound Brook 2, Thomas Edison Energy Charter 0 (25-14, 25-13) Bound Brook showcased their depth with a dominant sweep, outscoring their opponents 50-27 overall. Rutherford 2, Wood-Ridge 0 (25-9, 25-8) Perhaps the most lopsided result of the two nights, Rutherford overwhelmed Wood-Ridge with a crushing 50-17 total point differential. Millburn 2, Chatham 0 (25-15, 25-11) Millburn maintained control throughout their match, earning a comfortable 50-26 victory over Chatham.

  • Orange edged Irvington 2-0 (25-22, 25-21)
  • Sparta defeated Montville 2-0 (25-21, 25-20)
  • Saddle Brook outlasted Wallington 2-0 (26-25, 25-19)
