NJPowerRankings Update: Paul VI and Williamstown Lead the Way in Fall 2025 NJ Volleyball
As the 2025 New Jersey high school volleyball season reaches its critical phase with county tournaments underway and state playoff seeding approaching, the NJP (NJPowerRanking.com) computer algorithm has released its latest comprehensive rankings. With nearly 3,000 games analyzed, the rankings provide a clear picture of where teams stand across the state.
Top Contenders
The current rankings show Paul VI (35.10) and Williamstown (35.08) in an incredibly tight battle for the #1 position, separated by just 0.02 points. Both teams boast perfect records, with Paul VI at 19-0 and Williamstown at 22-0. Old Bridge rounds out the top three with a 21-1 record and a rating of 34.35.
St. John Vianney (32.87) and Secaucus (32.48) complete the top five, both demonstrating exceptional play with win percentages above 89%.
Statistical Standouts
Several teams have displayed remarkable offensive and defensive prowess throughout the season:
- Southern has played the most sets (64) with a 41-23 set record
- Bridgewater-Raritan leads in total points scored with 1,453
- The most dominant teams by average point differential include Paul VI (9.9), Old Bridge (9.8), Secaucus (9.8), and Mother Seton (9.0)
- Science Park has been impressive with a 20-1 record and an 8.6 average point differential
- LEAP Academy ranks highly in efficiency, with a 16-2 record and an 8.0 average differential despite playing fewer games
Perfect Records
Only two teams in the state maintain perfect records:
- Paul VI (19-0)
- Williamstown (22-0)
- Seven team have just one loss including Old Bridge at 21-1
Teams to Watch
Several programs outside the top 10 have demonstrated they shouldn’t be overlooked:
- Holmdel (#18) shows exceptional efficiency with a 36-3 set record and 9.1 average point differential
- McNair (#85) boasts an impressive 15-3 record with a 7.8 point differential
- Golda Och (#235) has quietly put together a 7-1 record with an 8.5 average differential

Struggling Programs
At the other end of the spectrum, several historically competitive programs face challenging seasons:
- Montville (#148) remains winless at 0-18
- Pope John (#196) has managed just one win in 14 matches
- Several schools in the bottom tier have negative point differentials exceeding -10 points per match
Looking Ahead
As county tournaments progress and state playoffs approach, these rankings will lay the groundwork for seeding and paths to championships. NJP has consistently outperformed power point seeding. The top-ranked teams will aim to maintain their momentum while those in the middle of the pack still have opportunities to improve their positions.
The NJP rankings incorporate wins, losses, set records, points scored and allowed, trends and strength of schedule into a comprehensive algorithm that has proven remarkably accurate at predicting match outcomes throughout the season. With nearly 350 teams ranked, the data provides a complete picture of the competitive landscape across New Jersey high school volleyball.
