Set scores were 27-25, 17-25, 25-17, 25-15, as Ocean City showcased the poise and balance that has defined its dominant campaign. The matchup between the CAL’s top two programs delivered on expectations. After dropping a close opening set, the Villagers responded with a commanding second-set win to even the match at one apiece. From there, Ocean City reasserted control, capitalizing on strong back-row defense and steady setting to close out the third and fourth sets. Ocean City’s consistency and depth ultimately proved too much. With the victory, Ocean City completed an extraordinary run through league play, finishing 12-0 in the CAL National Division and adding the postseason crown to its résumé. The Red Raiders now turn their attention to the state tournament, entering as one of South Jersey’s most balanced and battle-tested squads.
St. John Vianney powers past Holmdel to reach Shore Conference final – St. John Vianney continued its dominant 2025 campaign with a decisive 3-0 sweep of Holmdel in the Shore Conference Tournament semifinal on Tuesday afternoon. The Lancers, now 21-1, controlled the pace from start to finish, posting set scores of 25-22, 25-17, 25-10 to advance to the championship match. Led by standout setter Ayana Warren, who tallied 38 assists and six aces, St. John Vianney’s offense was firing on all cylinders. Amelia Moro delivered a complete performance with nine kills and three blocks, while Genevieve Millett and Taylor Sofilkanich each adding brilliant offensive prowess, keeping Holmdel’s defense under constant pressure. The Lancers’ depth and passing consistency allowed them to close out each set with strong service runs and disciplined play at the net. For Holmdel, the loss ended a remarkable regular season that saw the Hornets rise to 21-2 and capture the Shore B North title. Despite early energy and competitive rallies in the opening set, Holmdel couldn’t overcome the precision and pace of St. John Vianney’s attack. With the victory, St. John Vianney advances to the Shore Conference Tournament final against Pinelands, where they will compete for another program milestone in a season already defined by balance, leadership, and elite execution across the court.
Pinelands outlasts Southern in five-set Shore Conference semifinal classic – In one of the most dramatic matches of the Shore Conference Tournament, #1 Pinelands battled past a determined Southern squad in five sets, winning 25-23, 23-25, 25-15, 21-25, 15-13 to advance to the championship. The Wildcats, now 21-3, will face St. John Vianney for the title, while Southern (16-9) exits after a season-defining performance that nearly derailed the top seed’s run. Madison Wilbert powered Pinelands with a stellar 27 kills, but she was far from alone in her dominance. Jayda Quigley delivered one of her finest performances of the year, recording 24 kills along with 32 digs, leading both the front and back row efforts. Her all-around play steadied the Wildcats every time momentum swung toward Southern. Setter Chloe Tucker orchestrated the offense with 31 assists, consistently finding Wilbert and Quigley in rhythm, while Cali Peterka added seven kills and four blocks to give Pinelands a defensive edge at the net. Southern, meanwhile, refused to go quietly. The Rams captured the second and fourth sets with balanced hitting and fearless defense, pushing the match to a decisive fifth frame that saw both teams trade long rallies and emotional swings. Southern’s blocking and back-row coverage forced Pinelands into several resets, but the Wildcats’ experience and composure in crunch time proved decisive. For Pinelands, this win reinforces why they’ve been one of the Shore’s most complete teams all season. Behind the hitting combination of Wilbert and Quigley, supported by Tucker’s command at setter, the Wildcats have the firepower and chemistry to challenge anyone. They’ll now prepare for a championship clash against St. John Vianney, a matchup that promises to showcase two of New Jersey’s premier volleyball programs at their absolute peak.
Northern Highlands stuns Immaculate Heart in straight sets – In one of the biggest statement wins of the 2025 volleyball season, Northern Highlands pulled off a stunning 25-22, 25-22 sweep over perennial powerhouse Immaculate Heart Academy. The victory not only marked a signature win for the Highlanders but also showcased their growth and balance heading into the postseason. Georgia Cacciabaudo led the charge for Northern Highlands with six kills, providing steady offensive firepower against one of the state’s most disciplined defensive teams. Setter Allie Reilly was instrumental, tallying 12 assists, three digs, and three aces, while also contributing a key block at the net. Her connection with hitters Lexi Thompson, Hannah Brown, and Lily Piccinich helped the Highlanders find rhythm early and maintain composure late. Piccinich’s defense and serve-receive also stood out, giving Northern Highlands the consistency it needed to finish both sets strong. For Immaculate Heart, Adrielle Crump delivered a dominant individual effort with 15 kills, leading all players, but the Blue Eagles struggled to find secondary scoring support. Kristen Lee managed 22 assists, while Julianna Rambadt added two blocks, yet IHA never fully settled into its offensive system under Highland pressure. The straight-set win underscored Northern Highlands’ resilience and depth. In back-to-back sets decided by narrow margins, they executed in crucial moments, outlasting IHA with disciplined defense and poise. With the postseason drawing near, this victory sends a clear message, Northern Highlands is not just a contender but a genuine threat to any ranked opponent standing in its way.
