The New Jersey high school volleyball community is used to these players leading their team to success. Names like Zaleck, Dorkhman, Kumar, Tuohy, and Hollenbach have been the players that high school fans have chanted for over the past few years. Now those players have all collected under one roof, under the Golden Dome in Newark, to join forces on the D-lll Rutgers Newark Scarlet Raiders volleyball team.

The Scarlet Raiders are now 6-0 and have knocked off two high ranked teams on this seasons journey. On February 6th, Rutgers took on #12 Stevenson University. After Stevenson won the first set, the Scarlet Raiders reeled of three straight set wins, the last at 25-14 to make a major statement. Two days later, the team traveled to #3 Stevens (8-0) and it wasn’t really close with Rutgers taking three straight 25-21, 25-22, and 25-21.

Today, the team anxiously awaited how this would impact the National rankings and the previously unranked Scarlet Raiders moved into the #8 spot in the nation. We know the season is young, but you can’t help but think that this success will continue. These have been some of New Jersey’s best players and have the accomplishments to prove it. It’s awesome to see these players making an impact and they certainly deserve our support as they move forward this season. College volleyball is a great venue to take your younger players to and paint the picture to inspire their growing passion for the game. The next time to catch a home game is Tuesday, February 18th at 7PM at the Golden Dome. The team departs for an away trip to Virginia to face Randolph Macon, Marymount, and Misericordia this weekend.

Congrats to the entire team for their early season success. More to come!!!
