We are publishing our first version of the NJP player rater. The rater is meant to measure the overall contribution a player is making for his team in comparison to other players in the state. We use a proprietary formula that weighs per set statistics along with schedule strength of opponents to rank players. We also provide a percentile indicator to show how that players fits into the HS talent landscape. We expect that players at the 98th percentile or higher would be candidates for D1/D2 colleges and 90th percentile for D3. We recognize this is a flawed analysis as so many other characteristics of a player are considered other than stats by a college recruiter. But this is meant for fun and spirited debate. Forward all questions and comments to njpowerranking@gmail.com. Presentation is for all reported games through Sunday, April 18th.
