#1 Seed Harrison left no doubt on Thursday night as they had one of their strongest performances of the summer by handily beating Union in the final, as well as Kearny in the semi-final. The Blue Tide was in peak form tonight outscoring their opponents in the playoff 100-66 and did not lose a set.

Potentially the best match of the day was the Gold semi-final which had North Bergen facing Union. The Bears came out strong with a solid first set win but Union battled back to take set two 25-22. The third set was a wild, back and forth battle that went to extended play and ended 19-17 with the Farmers getting the final edge.

The silver bracket saw the JC Griffins, a combination of players from several Hudson County teams, taking the championship in straight sets over West Caldwell Tech. It was a bit surprising to see perennial powers Bayonne and St. Peter’s bringing in 7th and 8th place finishes. This could signal a bit more parity next Spring in the HCIAL and perhaps another dominating experience for Harrison in the NJIC.

Harrison does an amazing job running this summer league. Kudos to Coach Anthony Sabia and the entire support team in Harrison.

Here is the final scoreboard:
