The season is just a few weeks away and NJP has been continuing the number crunching over the summer season. Below are updated pre-season rankings for the Top 100 teams in the algorithm. Our formula calculates the percentage of stats lost to graduation and uses its proprietary algorithm to measure the impact on each team for the upcoming season. You can see the percentage of each stat category retained by team below as well as their 2021 stats. The first two columns represent the 2022 ranking and ratings based on the formula.

No surprises in the Top 4 teams here. Bogota returns almost its entire team from last years squad (97%) and get the PSR #1 slot with last years standout teams and finalists Williamstown, Paul VI, and IHA right behind. Newark Academy, and Tenafly make major jumps based on their returning squads. The biggest rating hikes in the top 25 are from MKA. Mount Saint Dominic, and Union Catholic.

Tenafly and Holy Angels are the only teams in the top 100 which returns 100% of its scoring and players from last season. Clifton returns the least amount of stats with just 10% followed by Gloucester Tech (18%), Northern Highland (19%), St. John Vianney (19%), and Donovan Catholic (19%).

Mendham has taken the biggest fall out of last years top 10 after losing half their stats to graduating seniors as well as losing Sarah Wilcock their brilliant rising senior to her beach volleyball preparation after committing to D1 TCU next Fall. Note Mendham has enough depth to remain in the top 30 and always has young stars in their system that will get a chance to rise up and show off their talents. So lets not count out the Minutemaids just yet.

With well over 300 teams on the NJ high school landscape, these teams are expected to be the main contenders for state championships.
