Friday night in week 4 means a packed schedule, preparation for County tournaments and the start of tourney games, lots of senior nights, and of course many “Dig Pink” events supporting breast cancer fundraising and awareness. This time of year is always filled with player achievements for both individual season stats and career stats. Send them over from your team so we can verify, post them, and recognize the accomplishments. The same with school records… we don’t have a lot of visibility on those achievements based on historical records by school so make sure to send them when achieved.
We posted our UCC tournament rankings and seeding for the upcoming Union County tournament last night. We hope to do this for both Essex and Bergen before the night is out as those tournament schedules have already started or are starting tomorrow.
We have Westfield as a strong favorite to bring home the Union County crown. Bergen County will be extremely competitive but we do expect IHA to continue to distinguish themselves as head and shoulders above the rest. Essex County is also a very competitive landscape but Livingston is a clear favorite. Both Bergen and Essex have a huge field of teams participating so anything can happen over multiple rounds of play.

Tonight’s schedule commentary:
IHA enters the Bergen County tournament at 18-1 after sacking the Northern Highland Highlanders in straight sets. Immaculate Heart is NJP’s pick to take the tournament held at Old Tappan over the next few weekends. No early round buys for the Blue Eagles as they will take on #32 New Milford tomorrow. in round 1. Pascack Hills will be up next and then a likely date with Old Tappan.

Essex-Tourney-version-1.xlsbSome big quad match-ups tomorrow with some of NJ’s top teams. We will see at least a few teams drop from the unbeaten ranks tomorrow. There is also a really interesting matchup between Paul VI and Princeton Saturday. Paul VI holds the edge in rating but Princeton is undefeated and looking to make their mark. Will be very interesting.
We ran out of time tonight… Many of the NJ top teams came through unscathed including… Summit, Ridgewood, Tenafly, IHA, Old Bridge, Union Catholic, Summit, Livingston, Bergen Tech, Bogota, Old Tappan, River Dell, Fair Lawn, Emerson, MKA, Wayne Valley, Washington Township and Donovan Catholic.
In some close matches that were a bit more of a surprise… East Brunswick got beat in straight sets by Monroe. Ridge edged Morristown in 3 sets. Union Catholic knocked of BR in straight sets. Watchung Hills defeated Piscataway. And Brick Township defeated TRE.
