November 22, 2023

We have let the dust settle a bit before announcing our NJP Awards for the 2023 season. This was one of the closest contested seasons for ranking teams and the player landscape is no different. Many of our awards are based on pure math of a player ranker algorithm. This algorithm measures a players total contribution to a team and factors in their statistical accomplishments in every category while applying a schedule strength factor. We also use per set statistics to bring games played to an apples to apples comparison. We do not have the capacity to collect game by game results per individual or gather data regarding how many points that each player participates in so these generalizations will result in flawed data, but we do the best we can with the information we have. For example, if a player missed 8 games due to injury, we still use the number of sets played by the team overall to measure our ratings. Effectively, we feel we reach a 90% confidence level in the math, but there will certainly be exceptions. With that said, we present the NJP Girl’s high school volleyball awards for 2023:
