Night 3 recap

It was a awesome third night of state playoffs for NJ Girl’s high school volleyball. One hundred and twenty two games played over the first 2 nights. We added another 32 on night three. NJP completed a full analytical analysis of every game to be played and took its shot to validate its ranking system and picked the score of every match. On night one, over the first 66 games, NJP selected the winner in 62 games. We also predicted 3 upsets where lower seeded teams won their matches. Three of our 4 losses went to three sets. On night two, our overall record has settled at 103-9, that 92%. Leaving night 2’s record at 57-5. Our record at picking upsets where lower seeded teams were picked to win stands at 9-4.

As quarter final matches started tonight, the games will be tougher to predict winners. Third night predictor record was 28-4, a win ratio of 88%. This dropped our overall win rate to 91%.

Overall, in 144 playoff games thus far, NJP selected 131 winners, 10 of which were upset picks meaning we selected a team to win that was a lower seed in the match and was successful. So far, no major upsets of top seeds in each bracket. Quarter and semi final matches will certainly result in upsets so stay tuned.

As usual, congrats to all teams advancing as well as those who seasons came to an end tonight.

Our analysis below shows each group sectional in detail with our predicted game scores per our algorithm. There are also notes for each game detailing the rating differential as well as comments on players or teams in each match. We will continue this approach for all remaining rounds through each Group Championship.
