This is our first player rater for the 2025 boys season. A quick reminder for those new to the website. The Player Rater algorithm uses not only statistics per set but the schedule strength of the opponents to get those stats. It is our closet version of an apples to apples comparison of players. The accumulation of data has actually been more difficult since the introduction of sets played in the state database. The information for sets is often incomplete or incorrect bringing a higher level of variability to the data. We have culled the data and built into the algorithm a method to select the most accurate sets played. For those with zero sets played or clearly incorrect sets, we have used the teams sets played.

Any player at the 90% level or higher should relish this major achievement. Those at 95% or higher represent NJ’s cream of the crop. Congrats to all of these players. For those not quite to the top level, don’t get discouraged. Every person on a team has an important role that may not always come through statistically.

We are also using a minimum set requirement for the rater. If you have 10 or less sets played, your numbers will be at the bottom of the analysis.

Also, a number of teams do not record stats for their players. We have 19 of the 215 teams currently not reporting. There is only two teams not listed that are rated in the top 150 highest ranked teams.
