The NJ High School Boys Volleyball season is coming up fast and is scheduled to start in April barring anything unforeseen. It appears that absolutely everything was unforeseen last year with the pandemic cancelling the boys season in its entirety. But the challenges of putting together any sort of pre-season reports for Spring 2021 are just overwhelming.
The last season to be played for NJ boys high school volleyball was 2018-2019. Since that time, on average, we estimate that 77% of the players have graduated. Typically about 17% of the player population is sophomores and only 6% are freshman.

We do have some information on club players, the age groups and levels they are at, and many of the high schools they attend. This is why we put so much effort into collecting the high school information of club players. For the boys, it one of our only points of reference for Pre-season ratings and rankings. Which is what makes this year just so difficult.
We felt very good about the previous years landscape and presented over 60 of the top teams pre-season reports. They are listed at the links below for those die hard analytic junkies.
This years pre-season report for the boys will not be based on analytics but will represent the editors view on programs that we feel will be top 20 teams. We do not plan to order them until the season starts.
Stay tuned for the NJP top twenty and feel free to send us any notes about school teams that we may have missed.
We invite coaches and players to share their thoughts with us at njpowerranking@gmail.com.
