The news that New Jersey athletes did not want to hear was announced by Governor Phil Murphy.
“All indoor youth and adult sports, including both practices and competitions are being placed on a full and complete pause through January 2, 2021,” Murphy announced. The NJ Governor added that the only exceptions are for collegiate and professional athletics.
Phil Murphy said, “We do not take this step lightly; I hope and intend to see the winter sports season in January.” He said that he especially wants to see athletes play their Senior season(s).
This announcement includes all indoor athletics sponsored by the NJSIAA as well as club and recreation sports.
This is also a reminder to please take all necessary health and safety precautions, so we can see sports return as soon as possible.
Stay safe and happy holidays!
