The Southern Rams took down Donovan Catholic in a battle of undefeated teams in Manahawkin. The Griffins came out strong winning the first set over the Rams 25-22. But it was all Southern Regional after that as the Rams smothered the Griffins the rest of the way and took the third set 25-6. Jordyn Hamlin had another top performance with 10 digs, 3 blocks, and 11 kills. Sarah Capone had 9 kills and Molly Regulski posted 21 assists. Shantel Starling and Macayla Lindner each had 10 kills for the Griffins in the loss with Shantel adding 5 aces.

And another NJ undefeated team fell from the ranks today as River Dell not only lost their first set of the year, but also lost the match in straight sets to the Super 6 Tenafly Tigers. We are now down to just 5 undefeated teams in NJ… 13 teams have fallen off the list since 10/1.

East Brunswick visited Notre Dame in an interesting non-league matchup. East Brunswick, after opening the season at 6-0, lost 6 of their next 8 games, albeit to some very good NJ squads. Notre Dame has been excellent all season in the BCSL and has battled Princeton for top honors. The Irish came out strong and mauled the Bears in the first set 25-18 but the rest of match found EB edging the Irish in both sets 26-24. Nice win for the Bears as they head to Old Bridge tomorrow.

What a great matchup today as Montville visited Verona. Two very even teams battled to a 29-27 third set as the Mustangs prevail and improve to 13-3. Verona fell to 13-4. Cassandra Chauhan slashed 9 kills and lifted 17 digs while also adding 2 blocks and 4 aces. Katie Gorski provided 8 kills and 3 blocks.

A super performance by Maggie Gesek of Jefferson was negated as Voorhees squeaked past the Falcons in three sets tonight. Gesek was all over the floor posting 20 kills, logging 22 digs and slamming 3 aces. With the win, Voorhees kept pace at the .500 mark at 8-8.

In the Union County tournament, Summit outlasted New Providence in three sets today. Hannah Barlow and Vivian Roberts had 8 kills each. Zoe Zacharias logged 18 assists. Dinara Sheridan, Olivia Catalano, Alexy Eng pushed New Providence to a second set win but Summit avoided the upset in the third in convincing fashion. Haiden Furhman led the Union Catholic Vikings to a straight set win over Johnson. She posted 6 kills and 5 digs while adding an ace to help the Vikings advance. SPF doused Roselle Catholic’s chances in the tourney as they sped by RC limiting them to 22 overall points. Morgan Kinard, Abbey Balagot, and Melania Acampora combined for 19 kills for the Raiders. Governor Livingston eased past Linden in straight sets powered by 8 kills by Haley Motz. Alex Grinnis for Kent Place posted 19 digs, 8 aces, and 8 kills to lift the Dragons over Union. And Westfield rotated 14 players as they overpowered Plainfield.

Sofia Hor from Freehold Borough passed 300 career kills this week. The 4 year varsity starter blew past 100 career aces this season as well. Congrats Sofia!
